About This Site
Pet Cooking Homemade Hub is written for people who cook some or all of their dog's food at home. We cover the things that make that easier and safer: nutrient blends that help balance a homemade recipe, food processors for chopping and mixing in bulk, silicone freezer trays for portioning, dehydrators for single-ingredient treats, and kitchen scales for measuring every batch the same way. Every review is written from a real home kitchen, and every recipe idea comes with the same reminder: check a homemade diet with your veterinarian.

Homemade Pet Food Safety
A homemade diet is only as good as its balance. Home-cooked meals without the right calcium, vitamins and minerals can cause real deficiencies over weeks and months, so work out any long-term recipe with your veterinarian or a board-certified veterinary nutritionist, and use a nutrient blend exactly as its label directs. Nothing on this site is veterinary advice, and no food treats or cures a medical condition.
Some everyday kitchen foods are toxic to dogs. Never add onions, garlic, chives, grapes, raisins, chocolate, macadamia nuts, xylitol (a sweetener found in some peanut butters) or cooked bones, which can splinter. Go easy on salt, fat and seasoning, and introduce any new food gradually to avoid stomach upset.
Treat pet food like people food. Cook meat to a safe internal temperature, cool it fully before serving, refrigerate within two hours, thaw frozen portions in the refrigerator, and wash hands, boards and blades after handling raw meat. Keep food processor blades and dehydrator trays away from children and pets, unplug appliances before cleaning, and never leave a running dehydrator where a curious dog can reach the cord.
